It All Started With a Little Girl and a Bracelet

For years, I prayed the same simple prayer: "God, I know You've created me for a purpose. I just don't know what it is."

Looking back, I smile, because I never imagined His answer would begin with a little girl making bracelets.

My daughter, Ella, has always been creative and entrepreneurial. From a young age, she loved making bracelets and would ask to set up a table in our front yard to sell them. Everywhere we went—Target, Ulta, Sephora, even just running errands—she carried bracelets with her, walking up to strangers, telling them she'd made them herself, and asking if they'd like to buy one.

Watching her confidence and pure joy was special to witness. She wasn't motivated by money. She simply loved creating with her hands and making people smile.

As her little business grew, my husband and I decided it was time to build her a website. Looking back, I can see God was already writing a story neither of us could have imagined.

While planning the site, I remember saying, "I always shop Christian clothing brands—how cool would it be if I designed unique pieces that matched my style?" At the time, I thought I was simply adding a few clothing designs alongside Ella's bracelets. I had no idea God was planting the seed for something so much bigger.

I love being a wife and mother, taking care of my family, and helping anyone I could. Yet deep down, I couldn't shake the feeling that God was preparing me for something—not because being a wife and mother wasn't enough, but because I believed He had another way He wanted me to serve Him.

As Scripts slowly came to life, I realized this wasn't just about designing clothing. I don't believe God called me to start a clothing brand. I believe He used a clothing brand to help me live out the purpose He'd been preparing me for all along.

I wanted to create pieces that would spark conversations about Jesus. Maybe someone would notice a Bible verse on a sleeve or ask about the meaning behind a design. Maybe that simple conversation would plant a seed only God could grow.

One verse has carried me through every season of my life: "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength." (Philippians 4:13 NIV)

To me, this has never meant I can accomplish everything on my own. It reminds me that when I feel overwhelmed, discouraged, or afraid, Christ gives me strength to take the next step, even when I can't see where He's leading.

This journey hasn't been easy—it's one of the hardest things I've ever done. Between raising a family and building a business from the ground up, there have been days that felt completely overwhelming, days I've questioned whether I was capable or heard God correctly. But every time I considered walking away, He reminded me why I started—not to build a brand, but to point people to Him.

From the beginning, I knew this journey couldn't just be about our family. If God was blessing us, I wanted those blessings to bless someone else. Long before our first sale, I decided a portion of every purchase would go back to a nonprofit making a real difference—a smaller organization here in Michigan whose mission reflected the heart behind ours.

That's when I found Gianna House. The moment I learned about their mission of walking alongside pregnant women and young mothers with love, housing, and hope, I knew that was where God was calling us to give.

Some of the most meaningful moments since starting Scripts haven't been the sales or milestones. They've been the messages from people asking for prayer, sharing their struggles, or telling us something we created reminded them of God's love. Those moments remind me this was never just about clothing. It has always been about people. It has always been about Jesus.

When I look back, I realize God wasn't just building a business. He was building me—teaching me to trust Him when I couldn't see the outcome, to keep saying "yes" when life already felt full, and to remember His plans are always bigger than mine. God took something as simple as a little girl's bracelet business and used it to answer a prayer I'd been praying for years.

My prayer has never been that Scripts become the biggest Christian brand, or that people remember my name. My prayer is simply that if someone puts on one of our pieces, they feel encouraged, start a conversation about their faith, or are reminded that Jesus loves them. If that happens, then every challenge, every late night, and every uncertain step has been worth it. Because if there's one thing I've learned, it's this: God doesn't always reveal your calling all at once. Sometimes He hides it inside the ordinary moments—a little girl's bracelets, a mother's quiet prayer, and one faithful "yes."

I don't want people to remember me. I don't even want them to remember Scripts. I want them to remember Jesus.
